What is a Rainforest?
Rainforests are forests with warm humid climate, lots of rainfall and tall tress. In some rainforests it rains more than 1 inch almost everyday! Rainforests have dense vegetation. They can be found in different regions of the world. They are present is Central and South America, Africa Asia and Australia. The largest Rainforest in the world is the Amazon.

Layers of the Rainforest
In general the Rainforest has 4 layers. They are the Emergent Layer, Canopy Layer, Understory Layer and the Forest Floor.
Emergent Layer
The first layer of the Rainforest is the Emergent Layer. The tallest tress are present in this layer. These tress tower above the rest of the majority of trees.
Canopy Layer
The Second Layer is the Canopy layer. This contains the majority of species of living things in the Rainforest. The canopy layer is 100 feet high and contains overlapping trees that provides a roof for the rest of the organisms below.
Understory Layer
This layer of the Rainforest is the most damp and humid. The Understory contains shrubs, ferns, climbing plants and young trees. They all adopt to survive with low amounts of sunlight and high humidity levels.
Forest Floor
The fourth layer of the Rainforest is the Forest Floor. It receives the least amount of sunlight and consists of fallen leaves, branches, fruits and seeds. All these materials mixed with the high humidity levels make the soil of the rainforest rich of nutrients.
