What is the Solar System?

The solar system is made up of the Sun and all the objects that revolve around it. The Sun itself is always rotating on its axis. Besides the Sun (which is a star) there are 8 large planets in our solar system.

Rocky Planets

The rocky planets are the ones closest to the Sun. These are Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars.

Gaseous Planets

The gas giants are Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. All four of the gas planets have rings around them. Though Saturns are the most prominent ones. These rings are made up of millions of pieces of rocks, ice and dust.

What are the 8 Planets in Order?

The 8 Planets in Order are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.

Are There 8 Planets Or 9?

Well sadly Pluto which was the 9th Planet and came after Neptune has lost its status an a Planet due to its small size.

Asteroid Belt

Our solar system also consist of an asteroids belt. This is made of hundred of millions of rocky material left over from when the planets formed billions of years ago. The asteroid belt lies between the rocky planets and the gas giants.
