The first thing we did today after coming home from school was to make The Very Hungry Caterpillar Craft after reading the same book by Eric Carle. Now let me tell you why!
When I went to pick up my daughter from school today she told me that they have started reading Eric Carle books in their class for author study. Now this was exciting news for both of us because he happens to be our favorite author.
As she is now 7 yrs old she can read all of his books by herself but still loves to hear them from me. So while i was reading it i decided we needed to do a craft project around it. I asked my daughter would she like to make a caterpillar with me and of course she was super excited. What kid doesn’t like to cut paste and make a mess!! Though to be honest it was super easy to make The Very Hungry Caterpillar Craft and mostly mess free. We were done in 10 min!!! We enjoyed making it so much and hope you enjoy it too. Happy Crafting!!! It’s the perfect caterpillar craft for preschools classrooms as well! Definitely worth a try.

Instructions for Paper Hungry Caterpillar Craft:
Cut the green construction paper into 6 thick strips of 3 inch width and 7 inch length. Cut 1 strip of red construction paper for the head of The Very Hungry Caterpillar Craft. You can cut as many green strips as you want. We have to the make a paper chain out of them. Just remember longer caterpillars are more fun to play with!!

Roll the green stripe and glue or staple the edges together. We quickly realized stapler was better option for our caterpillar craft.

Make a paper chain of the green stripes.

Now attach the red one to green paper chain like shown below:

Glue on the googley eyes and make a nose with black marker. Attach black antennas for the hungry caterpillar from black construction paper.
